Get your Guide : Fixing the 74 euro dropoff

Everyone's talking about Claude Code and Claude Design these days.

But given how quickly it burns through credits, I wanted to try something different 🤔

Claude Sonnet 4.6 + Lovable. No code editor. No Figma. Just prompts.

A few weeks ago on a call with my mentor, she said something that changed how I approach portfolio work:

❝ Stop designing apps nobody asked for.

Fix the ones people already use. ❞

So I picked GetYourGuide — a Berlin travel app I actually use and went looking for where their booking flow bleeds money. 🔍

Found it in 2 hours. On screen 7 of 9.

Right before a €74 payment:

❌ 2 form fields

❌ 200px of empty white space

❌ No explanation for why your date of birth is needed

❌ No progress bar

❌ Low trust signals

Estimated drop-off at that screen: ~40% 📉

———

So I rebuilt the entire app to fix it.

Here's what Anthropic Claude + Lovable produced in one week 👇

✅ Splash + onboarding screens

✅ OTP login with auto-fill animation

✅ Full search → results → activity detail flow

✅ The broken screen — with a live red pulsing alert showing what's wrong

✅ The fixed screen — progress bar, context, order summary, trust signals

✅ Checkout + payment with a live countdown timer

✅ Booking status timeline + in-app guide messaging

✅ Cart, Wishlist, Bookings, Profile — all functional

✅ AI chatbot with pre-loaded travel quick replies

✅ Downloadable PDF invoice (actual file, not a screenshot)

✅ Fully responsive — fills mobile screen, phone frame on desktop

20 screens. One week. Zero Figma. 🤯

———

The workflow was simple:

🧠 Claude → researched the problem using real App Store reviews, identified the exact drop-off point, wrote detailed Lovable prompts with GYG's exact design tokens, spacing, components, and PDF code

⚡ Lovable → turned every prompt into a working React prototype in minutes

🔄 Iteration → back to Claude to fix bugs, restore images, pin the tab bar, rebuild broken screens

The fix on screen 7 alone is projected to recover 15–22% of drop-offs.

At scale, that's not a UX win.

That's a revenue decision. 💰

This is what the new portfolio case study looks like.

Real apps. Real problems. Real business cases. Built in public.
